If 2009′s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time had a love child, it would be Tron:Revolution.
Taking place before the events of the movie tie in, Tron Legacy, the story is the only aspect that separates the game play styles of the three games. They play in exactly the same manor: Wall run, fancy acrobatics, element-specific combat encounters, rinse and repeat. This isn’t to say that Tron is bad game; in fact when set on the higher difficulty settings it presents a fun challenge and rewarding experience.
If there is an area where Tron lacks, it would be with the scripted Light Cycle levels. They are few and far between, too short, and presented poorly — elements which reduce the gameplay to mere trial and error. Thankfully the generous checkpoint system keeps this task from becoming too arduous.
Despite this disappointment, Tron is a very fun game and a must play for fans of the franchise.
My Score: 6.5/10
