Toy Story 3 consists of essentially two separate game modes.
First there is the classic, platforming styled, story mode. In these levels you’ll play through Toy Story narratively themed challenges — such the Toy Story gang seeking to gain access to Andy’s cell phone and one level where you assume the role of the ‘real’ Buzz Lightyear and traverse an unstable planet to gain entry into a secret Zurg base. Although these levels are short, the game play is satisfying.
The second game mode, Toy Chest, is a type of sandbox game where you assume the role of Buzz, Jessi, and Woody to complete mini-quests, races, and various challenges in order to build the wild west town of Woody’s Round Up. The simplicity of building and customizing the town is highly addictive.
Aside from it’s brevity and and the fact the game is obviously tailored for kids (and not challenging in the least), I would still give it my recommendation. It’s one of the best movie licensed/Disney games out there.
My Score: 8.5/10
