June 2011 Greatest Hits

Introduction

At the end of each month I like to take some time and write about what was great about it. You can call this action what you want — stopping to smell the roses, appreciating the simple things in life, taking stock of the present time — regardless of what you want to call it, I’ve enjoyed doing it because it forces me to look at some of the positive things in day to day life potentially could be easily overlooked. With that as the background, here are last months Greatest Hits. (In chronological order)

Logan’s Funny Dance

I have no idea where he picked this up — no clue how he learned this — but this is just about one of the funniest things this little guy has done so far.

I’ve been trying for a while to get this on tape but my little Bucko gets performance anxiety. Luckily for the hilarity (and maybe unlucky for him) he finally performs his move for the camera wearing nothing but his underwear.

This ought to keep him from dating until he’s 35.

Kickin’ Off The Magical Music Project

I finally got around to attempting one of my new year’s resolutions — my attempt to digitally catalog my collection of music from The Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is in full swing. Why would I go such a thing? Well… a couple reasons.

  1. I’m a huge Disney fan. I like getting my fingers into any project that involves this passion of mine.
  2. It’s a fun project that keeps me off the streets.
  3. It sends my site traffic through the roof. I’m already seeing a massive return on my investment with just the few pages I’ve posted so far. In effect the combination of two of my favorite things — blogging and Disney — are perpetuating each other. That’s just awesome.

You should visit the project page and see what I’ve been up to. This project is also shaping the playlist at over at my Live365 Disney Themed station.

FiOS Finally Available Where I Live

Verizon has been sending me FiOS advertisements since October of last year — and I have been trying to get FiOS to my house since last October. In what seemed to be a huge tease, they kept sending me fliers and each and every time I would call to sign up only to be told is wasn’t ready yet.

Well this month the service was finally made available in my area and we got it. So far my opinion of the service is very positive. Despite a couple technological speed bumps the service is as great as advertise. I would recommend this to all.

Why is this technology so awesome? Learn a little bit about it for yourself and you’ll join my choirs:

Fathers Day!

Father’s Day has quickly become my favorite day of the year; but with little guys like mine, it would be hard for it not to be. This year we all had a really good time. Sadly, not too many photos were taking this day…. at least not of me . But Logan did discover he loved climbing trees on the same day… so here’s an image of that!

Happy Father's Day!

Found New Music! : The Postmarks

For the second time, my little guys have introduced me to a new music act that I’ve fallen in love with. While watching Yo-Gabba-Gabba with Logan and Chase the music band The Postmarks were featured as a musical guest and I really got into their sound. I couple Bing searches later, I was rocking out to their Memoirs at the End of the World album.

They have a very quiet-haunting-ambient sound. They’re kind of the 60′s thing, but not quite. Here’s my favorite track on the album so far. It’s well worth a listen.

Dirty Spending Secrets.com

We all know that the United States Government spends too much money — maybe we can’t all prove it, but we all just know. We’ve reached this conclusion based on past experience. Often years after the fact, a news story will break about how some “bridge to nowhere” projected ended up costing the American people millions of dollars — but by the time the story breaks the money have been spent and the damage has been done.

A newer website, DirtySpendingSecrets.com aims to fix that. You can visit here and see what the government is spending money on right now. For example; Washington recently spent $2.6 MILLION dollars to train Chinese prostitutes to drink more responsibly on the job. We’re spending our kids into debt oblivion for this?

Visit the site, get angry, then do something about it! Contact your representative and tell them that you’re sick of this.

Logan Helps Me Mow The Lawn

I better enjoy this now while he’s still happy to do it. The second he’s old enough to push the real thing around, he’ll no longer want too…

That what I got for June. Hopefully July will be awesome. It’s my birthday month!
