I came across this house listing the other day that made my jaw drop. Someone is selling a house where the first floor of the home is an indoor swimming pool — complete with water slide from the second story down to the first. Here is the actual list description:
Probably the most daring & innovative house ever built – ‘The Subterranean Mansion’. Entrance hall, cloakroom/WC, lounge, dining room, breakfast kitchen, utility room, laundry room, master bedroom with en suite bathroom, dressing room & shute to pool, 2 further bedroom suites, swimming pool, central Jacuzzi with atrium above, gym, bar area, changing room with shower & WC, plant room, garage, in all approximately 4,300 sq ft. Gardens, approximately 0.3 of an acre.
Years and years and years ago, I would have told you that my dream job would be to be an architect — but not just any run-of-the-mill architect. No. I wanted to be the designer of homes that could be hailed as the most eccentric houses ever built.
I had no shortage of ideas either: How about a home build so that all the furniture inside is suspended from the ceiling so nothing is touching the floor? Or would you prefer a glass house that seamlessly blends the outdoors within it’s living space so outside of physically opening doors there would be no distinction between the two environments? Or, my favorite one of the bunch, how about a home where the entire first floor is a indoor swimming pool. Image my surprise when I found this listing and learned I wasn’t the only person who thought of these off-the-wall designs.
Now… does anybody have £2,000,000 I could borrow? (And by borrow, I mean have.)
