I came across these images online earlier this week and they reminded of a conversation I had with my next door neighbor shortly before his 96 year old dad died. He told me that aging was difficult process for his dad. While some might expect the body and mind to deteriorate at the same pace, that isn’t always the case. Ralph — the dad — had passed away with an acute mind, just an ailing body. He was sharp as a tack, but his body had just aged to the point where it couldn’t keep up.
Understandably, people in this position must deal with a fair amount of the companion depression of the aging process. To have to look in the mirror and long to see the person they used to be. These images encapsulate exactly that line of thought. I guess they’re serving as a reminder for me to try and be proud of the of the person I’ll see in the mirror one day.
The blog I snagged them from failed to cite an sources, so if you know of the origins, please let me know in the comments section and I’ll give proper credit where credit is due.
