It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird, but it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs initially. And you can’t go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad. This is the whole of Christianity. ,

This is one of my favorite quotes from Mere Christianity; such a concise and easily understandable example of how the Christian life is one that must consistently be growing, consistently being striving to put on the image of Christ. It’s a great reminder for something that I too easily forget.
