The United Nations has appointed Mazlan Othman as Earth’s official “Space Ambassador” to act as our first contact in the event of aliens visiting earth. From the source:
Ms Othman, currently the head of the UN’s Office for Outer Space Affairs (Unoosa), recently told fellow scientists that mankind needed to be ready to deal with alien contact.
‘The continued search for extraterrestrial communication, by several entities, sustains the hope that some day human kind will received signals from extraterrestrials,’ she said.
‘When we do, we should have in place a coordinated response that takes into account all the sensitivities related to the subject.’
The “sensitivities related to the subject?” We’ve already made up our minds that the space people are going to be easily offended. Something tells me that if an extraterrestrial species has their act together enough to put the technology together and seek out new life and new civilization, they are most likely going to be more than a little forgiving or our lack of intergalactic culture and manors. Though I’m sure our slanted liberal government will take huge offense to ET’s lack of adherence to affirmative action. Sorry, went off on a rant there.
Ignoring the fact that there is enough going on in the world worthy of our government’s full attention, and these yahoos are spending time and money trying to figure out who the the first person who gets to talk to the space people will be, I think we missed a real opportunity to put our best foot forward. I would have liked to have seen Angelina Jolie become the Space Ambassador. If you think about it, she’s the obvious choice. She’s a terrific humanitarian, she’s constantly working for the betterment of impoverished nations, and I’m pretty sure she would try to adopt one of the little space children. And let’s be honest, if you just spent light-years traveling across the galaxy to get to our humble planet, which of these two people would you want to see rushing to greet you?

You raise some good, valid points as to why Jolie would be better suited. Wouldn’t it be great to have aliens visit us and show us the error of our ways with all this political correctness nonsense that is shoved in our faces on a daily basis? To top it off, they would tell us how they became such an advanced people by finally purging all liberalism!
