All About The Mouse Live365 Station Update

June 29, 2010

All About The Mouse, Disney

It’s been a while since I’ve mapped out an update to my station, so I would like to do just that. After listening to a fair share (just about all) of the other stations that boast a Walt World Report themed soundtrack, I wanted to take some steps to ensure this station doesn’t become just a smaller version of them. I want my playlist to be thought of as an ice cream Sunday — stay with me on this analogy.

The Ice Cream.

The main mission of the statement is to serve up music that is exclusive to the Walt Disney World Reports. I would like this to make up approximately 60% of any given playlist. This includes tracks like The Haunted Mansion’s melodies, or a segment of audio you might hear on Splash Mountain. Ambient background music also included in category.

The Toppings

Next would be a category I’ve dubbed ‘tribute music’. This is Disney music that’s been covered by a non-Disney created artist. An example of these tracks would be Los Lobos rendition of Not in Nottingham or Steve Tyrell crooning Beauty and the Beast. Ideally no more than 30% of the playlist, at any given time, should be tribute music.

The Cherry On Top

For those of you keeping track, the last 10% of the playlist will be made up of classic Disney songs from classic Disney movies. You know ‘em and love ‘em; these song would be The Bear Necessities from The Jungle Book or Jolly Holiday from marry Poppins.

I’ve allocated a smaller portion of my station time for these songs for two reasons. (1) There are two many other stations that play just this music, all the time. (2) It’s a fair chance that if you’re looking for music played at the Walt Disney World Reports, you probably already own a fair share of classic Disney audio and I’m aiming to provide you with music you might not already have.

I am ultimately aiming for scheduled, weekly updates, though I don’t see this as a realizable task until I sort through my Disney music collection and establish a play order. Until them, I’ll be updating as often as I can — this might include multiple times a week, or maybe once every other week.

Many of the the other Disney World themed stations play through entire rides, most often these tracks with a 15+ minute duration. My intention is to be more focused on segments of sounds rather than entire play through. Call it a type of Disney Attention Deficit Disorder.

Hopefully these updates will be revived well, and you guys will stay tuned.

judging by some of your inaccurate playlists I would safely assume that your station is no different than the hundreds that are already out there. Every single site I’ve been to continually lists and plays wrong versions of songs. For example, your sunset boulevard list is way off. There are about 30 versions of slow boat to china and the one you list is the wrong one. There’s a large community dedicated to fixing these problems and I suggest you join it b/c right now you are part of the problem.

      Hey Butters,

      Thanks for your comment.

Most of my current playlist comes from official Disney albums, however I certainly can’t say for certain that all the other tracks are the exact version played in the park. I’m certainly not trying to be “part of the problem”. I really wouldn’t even have addressed this as a “problem”.

You mention a community that dedicated to correcting labeling the music? Could you share a link to a site in particular? If something is the wrong version, I would like to get it sorted.
