AMERICAN Students Sent Home for Wearing AMERICAN Flags at an AMERICAN University on a Mexican Holiday

Up To The Minute

So apparently an American student, from an school, wearing an on a Mexican holiday is offensive. From the source:

Galli says he and his friends were sitting at a table during brunch break when the vice principal asked two of the boys to remove American flag bandannas that they wearing on their heads and for the others to turn their American flag T-shirts inside out. When they refused, the boys were ordered to go to the principal’s office.

“They said we could wear it on any other day,” Daniel Galli said, “but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it’s supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today.”

The boys said the administrators called their T-shirts “incendiary” that would lead to fights on campus.

You should head over and read the whole article.

I don’t care if this action was done to provoke a response or not. I don’t have a problem with the [legal] Mexican population, and certainly don’t have an issue with [the day brings up many a fond memory actually], but this is absolutely outrageous. If any Mexican is so infuriated at the sight of an American flag that he/she would be inclined to starting a fight with anyone showing off Ol’ Glory, I would like to invite him/her to partake in one of the greatest freedoms we have in this great nation. The freedom to pack your bags and move back to .

The question to consider, not that it makes a difference on this issue, is “would kids be sent home for wearing Mexican colors on July 4th?” Now there would be a real issue, because it’s our independence day. It’s because of the events following that day in 1776 that we have a country that Mexicans want to live in. Now if they are so proud of their country and their heritage, that is wonderful. People should be proud of their country. Why don’t they go back and live in their country of which they are so proud? Mexicans want to migrate to this country and live the American dream, good, that’s what the American dream is all about! However, a part of that is being American. They need to come to this country legally and pursue American citizenship legally and BE AMERICAN!!!

Thanks for the thoughts Richard, and I agree with you 110%. As I had a commenter point out in another post, “You don’t have to convince people to want them to migrate to America.” We’re doing something right. But if these flood gates of political correctness remain open, I am concerned that it will wash out the very liberties these people appear to be abusing. The nation’s eyes are on Arizona right now, let’s hope for good things.
