The Office for Businesses Not Owned by White Men (Or, Why I Wish I Had a Phone with a Camera)

Thoughts, Up To The Minute

I observed a funny sight walking by The Office for Businesses Not Owned by White Men the other morning. OK, you got me, that’s not really the office name. The real name of the office is: The Office of Women and Minority Owned Business, but I feel my title is more to the point regarding the type of clientele the office is seeking to service — as this organization’s purpose seems to be to help every demographic but mine. Anyway…

I was walking by the office and a meeting was talking place. I could see (and hear) this because they were kind enough to leave both the office, and conference room doors open. Sitting around the table on either side were individuals I was expecting to see — and women. However, sitting at the head of the table, to which everyone’s attention was directed, sat a older, heavier set, balding, white guy. The aura of the room clearly communicated he was the man in charge, and I couldn’t help but think: “Now that’s funny!”
