3 Great Single Column WordPress Themes

I’ve been doing some tinkering on my site that’s caused me to search for a few single column WordPress themes that are distinct in design, yet consonant in functionality. When I began my search, I was surprised to see just how many themes are out there. It took quite a bit of time to sort through the masses and find the themes that would meet the criteria for my ‘meta’ blogs. In doing this, I’ve cataloged what I thought were the best ones, both presentation and code-wise, in an effort to maybe shorten somebody else’s search.

Kubrick on Crack!

Kubrick on Crack! — I’m note sure why the use of crack is a selling point for a theme (anything that make me paranoid and impotent, give me more of that!), but anyway. This is the favorite theme that I came across. It’s perfect for medium sized posts. The layout of the main index is colorful and presents the content well. It also utilizes the a thumbnail script, quite cleverly, to generate separate size images for both a thumbnail ‘teaser’ and featured post image. The theme was very well made and very easy to customize.

Vostok

Vostok — A fantastic theme. Perfect for my tumblr style Off The Couch microblog. The dark colors add a nice contrast to lighter content. The spacing and padding of the theme allow me to just post a Youtube video or image without the post feeling ‘empty’. I highly recommend it as a theme that puts the emphasis on media content.

Manifest

Manifest – Manifest is one of the better single column themes out there. It has a very clean presentation perfect for those who can produce a sufficient amount of content to make use of it’s generous margins. It’s design is almost understated, leaving your content to stand out even more. I’m also a big fan of its typography style. This is a good theme for text-centered content.

There are much more out there, but I found these to be the best… or at least my favorites.

They are certainly my favorite. There are many more out there, but these three stood out above all the rest.
