The Good Thing About Cancer [Poem]

This poem was written by Patsy Barrineau — who is no longer with us. These words really resonate with me.

The good thing about cancer
is that is speaks
in small sentences.
I listen attentively
as malignancy whispers:

Applaud yourself.
Hold her hand longer.
Hug her.
Buy it.
Say it.
Touch.
Kiss.
Smile.
Scream.
Laugh.
Cry.
Enjoy.
Live.
Yes.

Hope
