Site News: Back Off The Couch

Development

For a couple of years I administered a second website, I’m Not Allowed On The Couch.com, along side this one. The site was nothing more than a mere interest blog where I could post and publish thoughts about the random websites, images, games, and videos that I found in my travels across the interwebs. I loved having the two domains because it provided the tangible (in the logical sense) separation that kept my nonsensical interests apart from the posts I wanted myself to take more seriously, as they were my actual thoughts. However, as I became a home owner, and then a daddy, I found time to be an ever increasingly rare commodity and decided that the extra domain had to be put to pasture. Almost a year ago ImNotAllowedOnTheCouch.com went to domain heaven… the place all good domains go when they’re publishers lose interest.

With the extra domain gone, I spent a lot of time (or more accurately: a little bit of time, daily over longer period of time) to expand PaulHobson.com into something more than a gathering place for the random bits of facts and knowledge I’d stumble across. I’m pleased to say that in gearing up my site for 2010, it’s at a state that I am very happy with. BUT, if I could change just one thing, I’d have to say I want my random content post’s content back. However; the current structure of my site doesn’t accommodate the simplistic nature needed to host the random content. This is why I’ve developed ‘Off The Couch’. ‘Off The Couch is a Micro Blog page that exists outside of my normal blog feed, but functions solely as a gathering place for the types of posts I used to prepare for I’m Not Allowed On The Couch.com. Though not as affective as a separate domain would be to host such content, this hybrid is a very acceptable plan b. The page has been added to the site navigation at the top of the page.
