So I watched “V” on ABC last night and I couldn’t help but make a few comparisons between the show and the state of our government right now.
In V, intergalactic travelers (or visitors) come to earth to hopefully restock on needed “supplies”. In exchange for said supplies, the visitors would share they technological knowledge with the planet earth. Little is known about them, but when they start setting up “healing” stations where people with certain terminal illnesses could be healed, they are herald as the saviors of earth. Looking attractive, speaking clearly and carrying themselves with excess amount of charisma, only a few people seem to think that the visitors might not be as they seem and their intentions could be dubious.
Does this sound a little familiar? Hmm… let me think… didn’t America just elect a president who’s been in political office all of 5 minutes, but who looks attractive, speaks clearly, has charisma and is being hailed as the savior of the world? The comparison continues.
The head visitor (portrayed by a very lovely, and at the same time eerie, looking Morena Baccarin) agrees to sit for news interviews, but only if no questions are asked that would portray the visitors in a negative light.
Seriously? Can nobody else see the comparison between this and Obama? The only news station that dared ask any tough questions of Barry O is Fox news and now subsequently they are being portrayed to be an enemy of the white house. All other news stations dare not ask any questions that would portray the Obama administration in a negative light. (A side note here, I find it wonderfully ironic that since the attacks on Fox news by the White House begin their rating have increase three fold, where as CNN, “The Obama Network” has the lowest ratings of all news channels.)
And lastly, about half way through the episode we are privied to what we’ve known all along: the fact that the visitors are not what they seem is revealed to the watcher. Though their intentions aren’t completely known, you know that they do not have the people of Earth best interest at heart. And they have a two-fold plan for integrating their selves into our society: (1) Though community organizing and (2) THROUGH UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE!!!
Seriously people… Obama might be a V. He’s using almost the exact same tactics as an alien race trying to take over the planet for ominous purposes.
