Wordpress 2.8
WordPress on many levels is the ‘perfect’ application in my eyes. One element that makes it such a dynamic system is how easy the WP developers have made it to theme your content. This ease of use, unfortunately, has lead to a internet flooded with sub-par and look alike WordPress themes. A Google search for “Best WordPress Themes” will prove this point.
I’ve been using WordPress for about four years and I can say that I’ve looked under the hood of a fair amount of themes. While most of don’t stand out on their own there are some that are truly exceptional, from both a coding and content presentation perspective. Here are my favorite five that I’ve found through the years.
5. k2
If blogs have to all look alike, they should all look like k2. Not so much a theme as a WordPress font end framework, k2 is the theme that I cut my blogging teeth on. With a focus on clean content display as well as advanced functionality, k2 is the perfect theme for guys like me who like to focus not only on content but also tweak code.
4. Vostok
Simple and clean, Vostok is a single column theme that draws the focus to your content. I was using and loving Vostok on my site before I discovered the Titan theme. Even thought the layout is super simple and “box-y” there is something very elegant about it that make it stand out from other themes.
From the theme author: “Vostok is for those who don’t want attention to be distracted from content. Colors and typography have been carefully chosen to achieve maximum legibility with minimum eye fatigue. Also, code has been written with extreme care for web standards and accessibility.”

3. Color Paper
Color Paper is a two column wordpress template with sidebar positioned on the right hand side. The theme incorporates full support for widgets as well as a color changer, for those who get hip to that sort of thing.
I used this theme for a long time on this site. Where as the advanced features provided get support for my blogging, I just really loved the way it looks. In a internet world full of wordpress themes that seem to come off of an assembly line, Color Paper stands ascetically as something really beautiful.

2. MNML
MNML (short for Minimal) is a two column, right positioned side bar theme that swaps the location of the header with the footer. In a completely novel concept (sarcasm), it dares to put your content where it belongs… at the top.
MNML is set up give your WordPress blog the look and behavior of a Tumbler like blog. It even has a simple “post it” feature for the site that allows you to quick posts thoughts and links without having to navigate the WordPress admin area.
With a very simple design and a tumble blog type feel, MNML is prefect for the ‘casual blogger’ (whatever that is) and is the theme that got me into blogging the way I am now.

1. Titan
I have yet to find another theme as great as Titan. This is the theme I am currently using. With features that rival even some of the highest quality premium themes, it is easily one of the best themes can use.
From the WordPress description: A refined, balanced, and exceptionally handsome WordPress theme. Features a robust theme options menu allowing you to integrate your Flickr photos, Twitter updates, and Feedburner email updates. Use the custom code box to include photos, video, or whatever else your heart desires.

Very good read, some valid points were made. (This isn’t some dumb spam reply either, I’m a true reader.
