I’ve become a big fan of Celestine Chua‘s blog. In a recent post she made she discussed benefits you can add to you by creating a containing at least 101 things. For those that might not know, a is a list of things that you want to accomplish before you kick the bucket(die).

It’s been no secret to those close to me that I’ve been feeling somewhat lethargic and unmotivated regarding my life lately. Between being a husband, father, and a home owner I’ve certainly been busy, and being a father and husband are two of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had that isn’t all that I want to get out of life. Yes I am a husband. Yes I am a father. But I am also a crated being and an individual person. I say this carefully as not to be misunderstood: My family is a massive part of my life, but they do not make up my life completely. Creating this list is a step while I’m younger and have the time to ensure I take as much out of life as I can. I’m a far cry from 101 items, and some of these I’ve already done. I’ll keep tweaking as I come up with new things.

1. Find God. Finding God involves finding him not as how I see him to exists, but how he knows Himself to be. This will take more than my lifetime but is no less an attainable goal.

2. Start A Family. This involves actually being a husband and a father, not merely just living in the same space with the person I’ve chosen to marry and spawning. This goal will also take more than my lifetime to accomplish.

3. Be in love, not as people perceive love, but knowing love as love is.

4. Shake the hands of a personal hero. Look them in the eye and tell them why they mean so much to you.

5. Take in the beauty of nature. For me this includes taking time to:

What ever happened to that story you started about the snake and the man in the desert?

You know, I’m honestly thinking about finishing that as part of the bucket list. The problem is that it’s not a totally original concept. The actual character of the snake who lives in the desert by himself is taken from a short story I read many years ago. I don’t even remember where I read it to give full credit. I was rather fond of premise of the story and where I wanted to take it, but I’m debating trying to come up with my own ‘universe’ and unique characters. I’m still thinking…
