Sometimes, I Wish I Could Be A Democrat

Up To The Minute

Its very difficult to be a young conservative in this day in age. While most of my peers are off trying to get the to pay their unemployment benefits while they participate in some quasi-violent, offensive protest on some American industry so that they can make the fine the company and funnel the monies to their “save the cute little wombat” campaign, I’m at work trying to earn a paycheck to both pay their unemployment and provide for my family.

Sometimes, I day dream about just how nice life could be if I could check my brain at the door and become a full-fledged democrat for the day. It would have some perks! I think these points are what I would enjoy most:

People wouldn’t judge me based on my actions results. Only my intentions. It was my intention to make everything more efficient, instead I set us back 100 years. Oh well, I’m a democrat and I meant well, so I still get the brownie points.

I would be allowed to make derogatory, mean spirited and down right rude statements about people who’s view aren’t exactly in line with mine and still be hailed as a member of the ‘compassionate’ party. Sarah Palin’s 14 daughter being raped is totally a funny joke, right Mr. Letterman? Even if it’s not we’re , we can get away with it…

I could totally fall in line when the administration makes a claim such as, “For every dollar government spends, it earns $1.50 back.” After all, the rules of basic mathematics and economics hold no influence over me; I’m a Democrat.

I could totally jump on board the whole global warming band-wagon despite the ever-growing mountain of scientific data against it. If Al Gore says it, that’s good enough for me. Sorry science and unbiased research… I’m a Democrat.

I could have no automotive industry experience, or real world business experience for that matter, and still be appointed head of GM at the age of 31! After all, the only qualification you have to have to run anything well is being a Democrat.

But alas… I can’t be a democrat. I think too much.

My parents taught me to think at a very young age. And all this thinking about the world and what I’m seeing day in and day out has led me to believe one simple thing. Democrats are not only some of the meanest, rudest, abrasive people that you’ll ever meet, but they’re all full of snot.

As a by product of said thinking, I’ve also come to believe in a few core principle that the dems really don’t seem to want to have anything to do with.

1. The Rights Of The Individual
2. Personal Responsibility.
3. Respect For The Sanctity Life.
4. The Enforcement Of Limited Government.

And point 5, (this is the big one) I firmly believe in the text that was written in that document all those years ago that states:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Most the democrats I know either don’t get this or have forgotten it.
