Any self respecting Starfleet Captain knows there is going to come a day when he will face an enemy that will have some weapon that will, somehow, be able to cut through the energy shields of his ship and directly penetrate the ship’s hull. When this encounter eventually takes place, it seems the standard protocol is to order the ship’s shield frequency to be put in some kind of energy flux by subjecting to constant modulation. Almost every time, this fixes the problem.
I guess my thought (well, more of a question really) is … why isn’t this a standard shield setting? Wouldn’t be easier, and lend to less critical combat encounters overall, if as soon as the Captain gives the order to raise shields, they automatically went into some kind of constant frequency shift loop?
Also, this is the frist image released from the upcoming JJ Abrams Start Trek film. Sweet.
